Hello my friends! I've had a very busy week that involved lots of writing. I'm going to be featured on Cheryl Cope - Christian Women's Life, Weight Loss and Creativity Coach. Most of my time this week was spent on preparing my interview. It will go live on Friday, November 16. The whole time I was writing, I missed making art terribly. I finally got back to my mixed media art journal today.

I had painted the background with watercolors while I was on vacation last summer.
Yesterday, I had the irresistible urge to doodle. I grabbed my white gelly roll gel pen and it took on a life of its own!
In Photoshop CS5 I created a patterned background and printed the quote onto it. I cut it into strips and using my sewing machine, I stitched the strips to a piece of scrap paper.
I cut out the strips and attached them to the background with matte medium. I probably should have used gel medium because the strips were thicker. I had a little bit of trouble with adherance.
I think my head was in the clouds today. I forgot to spray the page with matte acrylic spray to fix the watercolors and the gel pen! When I finished the collage, I went over the drawings again with the gel pen where they had rubbed off.
In my absence this week, I did manage to design two new art journal backgrounds that are free for your personal use. Just right click and use the Save As option.
Have fun with them! We'll meet again soon. I'll be linking to Art Journal Every Day and Paint Party Friday today. To visit all of our participants, just click on the icons in my right sidebar.
Until next time,
