Happy Summer to all of you! I had hoped to be posting from Santa Fe by now, but as the song lyric goes: Life is what happens while you're making other plans. Due to circumstances beyond our control, we have had to postpone our cross-country camping trip. There's a silver lining to everything, however. Yesterday, I got to use both of my coupons from JoAnn Fabric :) As I have shared with you, I am currently fascinated with fabric designer, Kaffe Fasset. I hit the jackpot at the fabric store. They had four of Kaffe's books. I purchased two with my coupons! I got Quilts En Provence, which gives a startlingly beautiful glimpse of France.
I could live here.
The second book I got was Quilts In The Sun. It was photographed in Portugal.
I lived here for six months back in 1995 while my husband was on assignment. We celebrated our sixteenth wedding anniversary in downtown Lisbon.
Portugal is known for it's colorful hand painted tiles.
With all of the commotion around here lately, I've found it difficult to concentrate on larger works of art. I have had fun with my sketch book. Even if I can just make quick pen sketches and add a watercolor wash, it keeps my creative juices flowing. I can always use them later for collage.
I got my new issue of Somerset Memories.
It has wonderful ideas for artful scrapbooking, and you can also use those ideas for your art journal. The eight pieces of collage paper that come with it are fun to play with!
The summer issue of Gallery is also available.
It's sure to whet your creative appetite!
I'm hoping to get some sewing in this week, as well as some drawing and painting. I'll have to turn off my computer now, as yet another thunderstorm is about to roll through. I hope you are all well. We'll visit again soon!
Until next time,
