As I was taking the "walk to nowhere" on my treadmill yesterday, I glanced out at the backyard and was suddenly captivated by what I saw. There is a whole other world out there. As I watched, a flock of robins, two bunnies and a groundhog carried out the dance of life in front of me. Each seemed totally content with his little corner of the world and I marveled at the harmony.

I grabbed my art journal and penciled a sketch.
Using a combination of Twinkling H2Os and colored pencils, I started washing in the color.
I defined the irises more and then dampened the sky area. I began touching the wet paper with a loaded brush and allowing the paint to spread and run a bit.
I defined the iris leaves with colored pencil and then added color to the ground area. I also deepened the shadow areas on the bunny.
Next, I added watercolor to the stems and leaves. I added a bit of shadowing with a dark green colored pencil. This also helped to give the leaves some texture.
Next, I did the centers of the white flowers and shaded around them. I also based in the little bell-shaped flowers.
I defined the edges of the white flowers with a dark green colored pencil and deepened the shadows around them. I began adding pen and ink work to the bunny, irises and leaves with a dip pen and FW acrylic inks.
More linework to the irises. I then did some shading on the white flowers.
I added a deeper shade to the grass area at the bottom. I added pen and ink work to the bell-shaped flowers and completed the linework to the irises. I added some gold to the edges of the leaves.
To complete the page, I added final shading to the irises and wrote in the quote with a Sakura Pigma Micron pen, size 08. I highlighted some of the quote with a white Sakura gelli roll pen.
