A few weeks ago I discovered a quote that I think is going to change my creative life. After having stared at many a blank canvas waiting for the light to come on, I found this bit of advice to be remarkably freeing. I recorded it in my art journal.
Quote: "The advice I like to give to young artists, or really anybody who'll listen to me, is to not wait around for inspiration. Inspiration is for amateurs; the rest of us just show up and get to work. If you wait around for the clouds to part and a bolt of lightening to strike you on the brain, you are not going to make an awful lot of work." -Chuck Close
Sometimes, you just have to begin. The inspiration comes in the midst of the process.
I have some art journal backgrounds to get you started. You may download them for personal use only. This one is the one I created to make the above page.
I combined various vintage elements and a few personal photographs to create this one.
I hope you will be as encouraged as I was to realize that consistently showing up in the studio and working will bring it's own inspiration! Have a wonderful day!
Until next time,
