Hello, my friends! I've had a very productive weekend here at the cottage. First up: my mixed media art journal.
Quote: "In the midst of winter, I found there was within me an invincible summer and it made me happy because no matter how hard the world pushes against me, within me there's something stronger - something better, pushing right back." - Albert Camus
For me, that "something" is God's own spirit renewing me every day. I may get knocked down - but never defeated.
Using Photoshop CS5, I combined several pieces of my artwork with part of a photo I took last summer. Using any photo editing software and a touch of the "mad scientist" within can produce some interesting results. I really make use of Blending Modes. Hard Mix, Vivid Light and Pin Light are just a few of my favorites. After printing out my background, I used Sakura Souffle gel pens and a black Pigma Micron pen to add linework and text. I also used Prismacolor colored pencils and water-soluble crayons to add color.
While I was "mixing potions" in my Photoshop "laboratory", I created a few gifts for you: three new art journal background pages for you to play with! You may download them for your personal use only.
Finally, the Autumn issue of Somerset Memories magazine is out. It is packed with wonderful ideas that you can use for visual journals as well as memory books. There are eight beautiful pages that you can tear out and use in your artwork.
That's all for now. I hope you have a lovely day, and I'll see you in a few days for Works In Progress Wednesday!
Until next time,
