Well, it's about the third straight week of 90+ temperatures here. My kayak is getting an unfortunate rest because the humidity is so high, I can't breathe outside! All is not lost, however. I've had plenty of studio time and that means I have some new things to share. Working in my art journal has given me the opportunity to take my Sakura Gel Pens for a test drive. I was not disappointed! They are fantastic - they seem to write on anything.
I expected the purple ink to be a bit brighter, but it turns out that it was a very dark, smoky purple. Oh well, that's what art journals are for - a place to experiment!
I managed to work quite a few layers into this one. Unfortunately, I learned that paint spatter tends to bounce off of the easel, and onto my clothes :) Where's that apron?
I spent a few hours over the weekend playing in Photoshop CS5. Using a combination of original photos, stock photos, and Photoshop's amazing digital tools, I created some journal backgrounds that can be printed out. You are welcome to download them for personal use in your art projects. Please don't utilize them in something you plan to sell, because I used some photos and brushes that were free downloads. Are you ready? Here goes!
I hope these will jumpstart your creativity. I'd love to see what you do with them, so drop me a comment with a link to your blog or photo site, and I'll check out all of your wonderful work! Have fun!
Until next time,
